Firefighters work through the night to extinguish thatched cottage fire

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to Hinton on the Hampshire/Dorset border last night (October 27) to help extinguish a fire at a thatched cottage.

The blaze broke out at a house on the A35 Lyndhurst Road in Hinton just before 9pm.

Crews, including 10 fire engines, were called to the scene before the incident being scaled down at 11.30pm. Five fire engines remained in place

The Hampshire & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire is unknown.
