Schools in Broadstone, Ferndown and Parley looking for new governors

MEMBERS of the public are being urged to put themselves forward as a governor at three Dorset schools.

The Castleman Academy Trust has openings at Broadstone Middle School, Ferndown First School and Parley First School.

Duties include a meeting every half term, discussing strategic priorities, monitoring the education and supporting the staff.

Rhonda Moore, CEO of the Trust, said: “Being a governor can be extremely rewarding.

“Playing an important role in the running of a successful school brings a great sense of achievement.

“We wanted to cast our net into the community to recruit volunteer governors for the positions we have vacant.

“Governors do not have to have an education background – those with skills and experiences outside the education sector can make a huge difference to the lives of children.

“There are just six meetings a year and the leadership teams at the schools greatly value the counsel and experience of the governors.”

She said the Trust was keen to hear from people in the community who would be keen to help deliver the mission, to ‘advance education for public benefit’.

“We are passionate about developing the talent and potential of young people and committed to ensuring all our pupils experience inspirational learning,” Rhonda added.

“Being a governor in a Castleman Academy Trust school gives you access to wonderful opportunities.

“Governors work with some very talented people who are dedicated to helping children learn.

“We are a transparent group and trust levels are high, leaving us free to be creative and innovative.

“Governors get to be part of developing the futures of our schools in a more practical and substantial way.

“They are an integral part of our team. The role of governor, whilst challenging, is also thoroughly rewarding and enjoyable.”
