THE deadline is looming for keen knitters and creative crocheters to submit their forget-me-not flowers for a display at the Museum of East Dorset.
A special appeal went out a couple of months ago to encourage knitting fans to knit special woollen Forget-Me-Not flowers.
These flowers are the symbol of the campaign run by the Alzheimer’s Society and designed to create a special moment each year when everyone comes together to honour and remember people affected by dementia.
Museum director Francessca Hollow said: “We have been overwhelmed by the amount of knitted and crochet flowers that have arrived. We’ve had hundreds already.

She added: “Some have been sent from as far afield as Glasgow and Lancashire.
“Many arrive with very touching notes about how the flowers have been knitted in memory of a lost loved one who grew up in Wimborne.”
The patterns are free and available from the Museum of East Dorset reception desk as well as free blue and yellow wool.
The deadline is Wednesday, April 23 to contribute your knitted or crocheted flowers which will be used to create a spectacular display supporting Dementia Action Week which runs from May 19-25.
