A biker in tweeds and a cravat would be a rare sight, so imagine more than 600 of them riding through Dorset.
This Sunday at 1pm, distinguished sorts will polish their motorcycles and set off from the Southbourne Brewhouse & Kitchen to ride through Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole to raise funds for men’s mental health and prostate cancer.
Staged by The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, it will highlight alarming statistics that show men’s suicide rates in the area are 30 per cent higher than the rest of England, with males accounting for three in four of all suicides.
Added to that, there are around 14,000 undiagnosed prostate cancer cases in England.
The ride aims to promote more ‘chap chat’ and encourage men to get health niggles checked out.
The ride’s part of a global event, with rides occurring simultaneously worldwide.
Ian McLennan, Bournemouth & Poole DGR Leader, says: “The funds raised all go to the Movember Foundation.”
