Wimborne firm AWS takes over Weymouth concrete supplier Doonans

A WIMBORNE-based construction materials and waste management firm has taken over a family-run Weymouth company.

Avon Material Supplies (AMS), which is headquartered at Three Legged Cross, has completed a takeover of Doonans of Weymouth, a ready-mixed concrete and building materials supplier in the town.

The move aims to boost AMS’ ability to meet an increasing demand for high-quality concrete services and aggregate supply across Dorset.

With the addition of expertise, drum mixers, and a concrete batching plant, AMS said it was now well positioned to consolidate its position as one of the county’s leading concrete and aggregate companies.

Doonans is a family-run business with more than three decades of service in Weymouth.

Harold Doonan, MD and founder of the firm, said: “I am delighted that the business my family and I have worked so hard to build up over the last 30 years will now be able to enter a new chapter under the ownership of Avon Material Supplies, a business we have admired for many years.
