Wimborne Christian Aid appeal supports those living through conflicts around the world

A BREAD and soup lunch, which took place in Wimborne in December, raised more than £700 for charity.

The money will be used to support Christian Aid’s mission to support people living through conflicts around the world.

The annual event, part of the end-of-year appeal by the international charity, saw volunteers turn up on the day with homemade soups and freshly baked bread was sourced from nearby bakeries.

A live folk band provided a festive accompaniment to the lunch.

A spokesperson for the church said the event was a “huge success”.

“These lunches started many years ago, and we have continued every year since, except during the pandemic,” they added.

“Christian Aid partners with local organisations such as the Smile Again Africa Development Organisation which works in South Sudan, offering a lifeline to people who have had to leave everything behind.

“Fleeing conflict does not mean the danger is over, and the decision to leave is not taken lightly. But thanks to supporters throughout the UK, aid agencies are able to offer support.”
