IT’S your business and your voice – that’s the message to the town’s traders from Wimborne BID (Business Improvement District).
Businesses are being reminded to have their say on the draft five-year renewal business plan for Wimborne BID, which is led by local business owners, in an important meeting on May 22.
Levy-paying businesses have been invited to attend Allendale House anytime from 9am until 6.30pm to view and comment on draft proposals before the final 2026-2031 renewal business plan is agreed by the BID board of directors.
Wimborne BID is a business-led initiative to invest money into the local economy of Wimborne Minster.
It was established in 2011 and has been successfully renewed every five years since. It’s a not-for-profit organisation with 330 levy-paying businesses in the town.

These businesses contribute an annual, mandatory fee which goes towards helping to provide and sustain a multitude of services and projects tailored for Wimborne.
The five-year business plan is the next important stage in the renewal ballot process.
Since the beginning of this year, Wimborne BID has been talking to as many town businesses as possible through drop-ins and groups as well as hosting over 60 one-to-ones.
Businesses have also had the opportunity to complete an online survey to give feedback on Wimborne BID.
Hairdressing salon owners Jane Reeves and Nicole Gallagher of Wimborne’s R & G Hair and Beauty said: “Wimborne BID has been an asset to our business and community.
“The ongoing commitment to promoting Wimborne is invaluable. Events and initiatives are well planned and we’re very lucky to have great support from the BID team.”
Chair of Wimborne BID Fiona Harwood said: “Support from local businesses for Wimborne BID to continue is extremely encouraging.
“It’s vital that their feedback on what they want to see maintained, improved and introduced to the town over the next five years is considered so we can continue to deliver the initiatives, events and support that benefit them and our town.”
The BID Team will be on hand throughout the day at Allendale House to answer any questions.
The final business plan is completed in July and businesses will then vote on whether they would like the BID to continue to deliver the business plan in a ballot which takes place this October.
