Weather warning in place as heavy rain causes problems on the roads

A WEATHER warning remains in place across Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset today as heavy rain continues to batter the south west.

Met Office experts have warned people to expect disruption as rain continues throughout the day, with a yellow warning in place until 6pm on Monday (December 4).

They said people should expect:
* Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible
* Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
* Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer

“Showery outbreaks of rain today, heavy in places, giving some localised flooding,” a forecaster said.

Temperatures would reach around 9C, they said, before more showers hit tonight.

“Further showers in places this evening and overnight,” the forecaster added.

“Clearer spells are possible, mainly in the west. Feeling chilly, but generally windy and therefore staying frost-free.”

Temperatures would dip to around 3C, they said.

On Tuesday, “occasional showers” are forecast, with some heavy, before clouds make way for some sunny spells.

However, rain is set to return and linger for the rest of the week, they warned.
