A MAN from Upton has been jailed for 18 months after an attack left a man with a fractured skull and blood clots on the brain.
Steven Wenzel punched a man in his 50s in the face at the Upton Social Club in Poole Road shortly before 4.24pm on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
Officers carried out a quick investigation and Wenzel was arrested and subsequently charged in connection with the attack.
The defendant faced trial at Bournemouth Crown Court on July 31 and August 1, where he was convicted for inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Detective Constable Fiona Napier, of Dorset Police, said there is “no excuse for Wenzel’s violent actions”.
“This was a nasty assault committed by Steven Wenzel, who then fled the scene in efforts to evade our officers,” she said.
“We responded swiftly to attend the scene and launched a full investigation into the circumstances. I am pleased that we were able to apprehend Wenzel and ensure he faced justice for his actions.
“There is no excuse for Wenzel’s violent actions which left the victim with significant brain injuries and the courts have reflected the severity of this offence with a prison sentence.
“I would like to thank the victim and his family for their support throughout the investigation.”
