Two charged with attempted murder over alleged hit and run of Christchurch man

TWO men have now been charged with attempted murder following an alleged hit and run of a Christchurch man.

Dorset Police received a report at 10.10pm on October 7 of a crash between a black Range Rover and a pedestrian in Etches Close, at the junction of Western Avenue in Bournemouth.

The occupants of the vehicle reportedly fled the scene, while the pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was airlifted to hospital with life-changing injuries.

Following enquiries, two men aged 20 and 54 from Bournemouth were arrested in connection with the incident.

They have now been charged with attempted murder, possessing an offensive weapon and assault occasioning actual bodily harm and are due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court today (October 11).

Detective chief inspector Andy Bell, of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Criminal Investigation Department, said: “Detectives are continuing to support the family of this serious incident and will be out in the community today.

“I would continue to urge anyone with information or footage relating to the incident to contact us in confidence.

“There will continue to be a visible presence over the next few days and officers will be happy for members of the public to approach them to discuss this matter.”
