A VOLUNTARY group that provides transport to medical appointments for those without transport is struggling to recruit volunteer drivers and coordinators.
The Two Bridges Care Group, which provides lifts for people in Fordingbridge, Alderholt, Godshill and Sandleheath who have health difficulties, held an extraordinary meeting last week due to the recruitment crisis.
However, the meeting did hear some good news, in the form of three new drivers being recently signed up.
“To enable the group to meet these demands, it is always in need of volunteer drivers, and coordinators,” a spokesperson said.
“The coordinator job consists of keeping in touch with the drivers, to assist them in fulfilling the needs of the clients/patients.
“They get paid expenses and the real reward is the gratitude and appreciation of those in the local community.”
As well as news of the recent new recruits, the meeting also heard about the introduction of a new, easy-to-use, automated computer-based booking system/electronic diary for the service.
