Three injured in crash near Ferndown after car ‘failed to stop for police’

THREE people have been taken to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ after a crash near Ferndown last night.

The incident, near The Pure Drop pub, came after police said it was reported a black Audi A1 failed to stop for officers in the Canford Bottom area.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said the car made off towards Stonehill and collided with a blue Vauxhall Zafira at around 9.30pm in Wimborne Road East.

A 20-year-old man from Wimborne Minster and an 18-year-old man from Ferndown were both taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

The driver of the Vauxhall Zafira was also taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries.

Road closures were put in place to allow the emergency services to respond and for an examination of the collision scene to be carried out.

PC Tracey Downer, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “This road traffic collision resulted in serious injuries to those involved and we are continuing to conduct enquiries to establish the full circumstances of how it occurred.

“I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us.

“I am also keen to hear from any motorists who were driving in the vicinity and may have captured relevant dashcam footage.”
