Three are honoured by Queen for sterling work

Respiratory consultant Dr Matthew Knight, who lives in Stalbridge, has been honoured as a Member of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Dr Knight, a consultant from West Hertfordshire Hospitals, was made a MBE for working on projects in virtual or remote patient care during the covid-19 pandemic.

Dr Knight led a frontline team of medical professionals to prevent hospital admissions through virtual monitoring and consultations of patients at home.

Some 10,000 virtual consultations have taken place via this ‘virtual hospital’ which has cared for more than 1,250 patients.

Maze creator Adrian Fisher has been nominated for an MBE for his services to International Trade and the Creative Industry. Adrian, who lives inDurweston,hasproducedmore than700 mazesin 42countriessince 1979.Mostrecently he has been exporting his mazes to large visitor attractions and theme parks all over the world – particularly in the Far East. Adrian said:

“With covid-19, capital budgets for visitor attractions have been massively cut back: 85% of the UK and the world economies are still there, so we have rapidly re-focused. We are diversifying into mosaic, high-end art, the fashion world, couture design, hands- on quality puzzles and the writing of an adventure novel, without neglecting enquiries for landscape design, mazes and visitor
attractions.
We are focusing on
anything that be selected
online, and either delivered
electronically or by courier. From North Dorset
electronically, the whole
world is the same distance
away.”

The Revd Canon Timothy Biles

The Revd Canon Timothy Biles, from Sherborne, will be made an MBE for services to the Church of England. Canon Biles is an honorary assistant curate at Sherborne Abbey. He is well travelled and is concerned for justice in the Middle East and the Sudan, where he has shared in the Diocesan partnership for many years.
