A FIRE broke out in electrical equipment on solar panels at a Ferndown home.
The blaze started in the roof space of a house in Westwood Avenue at around 3.45pm on Monday (March 27).
Firefighters from Ferndown and Redhill Park attended the incident.
“On arrival, crews found the property well alight and requested two further fire engines – these proceeded from Poole and Ringwood,” said a spokesperson for the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.
“The fire in the roof space involved the inverter for the property’s PV panels (solar panels) and was extinguished by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus using a hose reel jet and main line.”
There were no injuries reported, they added, while a building control officer from Dorset Council was requested to attend in order to inspect the integrity of the roof structure.
