DRINKERS at a Wimborne bar could be forgiven for thinking they are on the slopes of Europe – and a skiing legend will help the feeling at a special grand opening event this evening (December 1).

Olympic skijumping star Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards will be doing the honours at the Hall & Woodhaus Alpine Bar at the Olive Branch, Wimborne, from 7.30pm.

“Can’t make it to the slopes this winter? Don’t panic. The Hall & Woodhaus Alpine Bar is here to make up for any après ski missing from your life,” a spokesperson said.

“Delicious drinks, warming food, twinkly lights and many, many real fir trees brings the magic of The Alps right to Wimborne instead.

“Gather your friends and get ready to clink those steins of beer.”

The Alpine Bar is open until December 31 and is created in a heated marquee.

“But if you want to be extra snug, feel free to bring your own blanket,” the spokesperson added.
