Silver collection set to shine at auction

A collection of silver, amassed by a Somerset collector, is included in the Charterhouse specialist sale of silver jewellery and watches on Thursday, November 3.

“The market for silver, jewellery and watches continues to remain strong despite what is going on in this country and over the water,” said Richard Bromell of Charterhouse.
The silver has been collected over many years having predominantly been bought from West Country auctioneers including Charterhouse in Sherborne.
The lots of silver date from the late 18th century through to the early 20th century.
The collection was on show in numerous cabinets in the owner’s living room where he liked to sit surrounded by all his shiny treasures.
The silver, which includes tea sets, trays, spoons, other cutlery, dishes, sugar sifters, tureens and salvers was always kept clean and polished.
Overall, it is estimated to sell for more than £20,000 and is only being sold due to ill health,
Charterhouse are now accepting further entries for their November specialist auctions including an Asian Art auction on November 2, followed by silver, jewellery and watches on November 3 and with antiques and interiors on November 4.
