JOEL Mawhinney from CBBC’s Blue Peter took a trip to Poole recently for some hands-on experience with the Poole RNLI Lifeboat Station.

The 41st presenter of the iconic children’s show spent time with the crew to learn more about their life-saving work and to see if he had what it takes to be a volunteer crew member

“Joel was put through his paces at the RNLI College in the sea survival pool then joined our RNLI volunteers afloat for a real life scenario,” a spokesperson for Poole RNLI Lifeboat Station said.

“Our crew were very pleased to be able to fulfil childhood dreams and received Blue Peter badges for helping with the filming.”

Joel joined Blue Peter in 2022 and co-hosts the show alongside Shini Muthukrishnan and Abby Cook.
