Police appeal after 10 “suspicious” fires reported at heathland near Bournemouth Airport

10 “SUSPICIOUS” fires have been started at heathland at Hurn near Bournemouth Airport, police said.

The fires were reported between June 20 and Monday (August 11) in the Matchams Lane area.

Dorset Police said “extensive” damage was caused to the heathland and neighbouring properties.

Detective Inspector Leo Glendon, of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole CID, said: “Thankfully, nobody has been injured during these fires, but this reckless behaviour can have serious and tragic consequences. A detailed investigation is underway to identify who is responsible.
