Paying to park in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole to be simplified

PAYING to park in car parks in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) by phone is set to become simpler.

From September 1, people will only be able to use RingGo as the sole cashless parking provider at council-owned car parks.

This comes after the end of contracts with other providers – JustPark, PayByPhone and RingGo.

BCP Council said that by consolidating payments into one platform, it can save on operational costs and save staff time in processing multiple providers’ administration– both of which will help to keep parking price increases for motorists to a minimum where possible.

All tariffs include transaction fees, with no additional admin charges—ensuring pricing remains transparent and easy to manage.

Motorists will still have multiple ways to pay using RingGo – including the free app (available on the App Store and Google Play), phone call, text message, or online at RingGo.co.uk.

Amanda Barrie, director of commercial operations at BCP Council, said: “We understand that changes to parking payment systems can raise questions, and we want to reassure residents that this move to a single app – RingGo – is intended to make it simpler for residents and visitors to pay for parking quickly and securely.

“By bringing all payments onto one system, we can also cut down on running costs and save staff time, meaning we can keep any parking price increases as low as possible for drivers.

“We appreciate the public’s support during this transition and remain committed to making parking as straightforward as possible.”

New users can register quickly via the RingGo app or website.

For a smoother experience, residents and visitors are encouraged to download the app to their smartphone before travelling.

The council asks the public to be aware that QR codes will not be used for registration or payment. All users should register and pay directly through the RingGo app or at RingGo.co.uk.

Existing RingGo users can continue using their accounts in the BCP area without any changes.

I’ve been using the Just Park App, for a number of years now, both in BCP, and DCC Car Parks, without any problems. Does this mean that Just Park will no longer work?
