Partnership results in stunning shows

Dorset’s touring arts charity Artsreach has joined forces with the Mowlem Theatre in Swanage to present two acclaimed performing companies live on stage for audiences from across Dorset to enjoy this summer.
New Art Club will present Cupid’s Revenge on Friday, May 13, and Regent’s Opera will present Carmen on Sunday, June 26.
Cupid’s Revenge will also be at The Exchange, Sturminster Newton on Saturday, May 14.
New Art Club is a ground-breaking company that has been touring internationally to critical acclaim since 1998, performing in venues as radically different as the Royal Opera House and Wembley Stadium to pubs and village halls.
Their latest acclaimed production, Cupid’s Revenge, is a joyful, physical and verbal outburst against the forces that masquerade as love.
Cupid’s Revenge is all about
love in its many forms: mythical love that drives the
creation of the universe and
everything in it in it; Romantic love; Love between friends; Love between you and the people you love.
It is funny, sad, and reflective. It is not a story, but it holds lots of stories inside it.
Cupid’s Revenge is an attempt to bring audiences together in a defiant act of unity and love; dance, physical theatre, and comedy combine to capture the audience’s imaginations, in a great night out that is equally as funny as it is tender and heart breaking.
Then, don’t miss the chance to see Regents Opera with their incredible production of Carmen for one night only.
Regents Opera is a leading fringe Opera Company specialising in the larger works of the 19th & 20th centuries.
The now touring company offers emerging and established singers a platform to perform major repertoire not often staged outside the major houses. This touring show is directed by Paul Higgins of Glyndebourne Festival Opera and the Royal Opera House, and stars renowned Greek mezzo soprano Kassandra Dimopoulou as Carmen and Howard Hutt as her Don Jose in a cast of four, accompanied by their talented pianist and musical director Ben Woodward.
