A NEW resident card could be rolled out in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) as a way to put locals first.
The new card would allow BCP residents to access free-swimming at BCP Council owned leisure facilities, an hour of free parking, and even discounts and perks at businesses – including discounted coffee and ice-cream.
BCP Council has put forward plans to introduce the card by summer next year and it will be discussed by the council’s cabinet on October 1.
The plans would see the introduction of digital and physical cards, plus a user-friendly website.
Individual businesses will be able to tailor their offering with bespoke benefits and exclusive offers and residents will be able to access a range of promotions across council services including an hour of free parking with any purchased session after 9.30am, at select council-owned car parks, and one free swim a month at BCP pools.

Councillor Millie Earl, leader of BCP Council, said the resident card will directly benefit those living in the three towns.
“By putting residents first, we will be able to protect incomes at the same time as supporting local businesses,” she said.
“The introduction of free swimming ensures everyone has access to facilities that will boost their health and wellbeing, whilst a free hour of parking means our residents will be able to spend more time enjoying our fantastic high streets.
“Introducing a resident card means, together, we can help residents make the most of what our towns have to offer, support them through the ongoing cost of living challenges, and drive new customers to local businesses.”
The proposals will be considered by overview and scrutiny committee on September 22, it will then progress to Cabinet on October 1.
