Mayor unveils outdoor photo gallery

THE Mayor of Ringwood has officially opened a striking new outdoor photo gallery at Moors Valley Country Park.

The display, titled Amphibians are Friends, features twelve large-scale posters showcasing bold, dramatic images of common toads and other amphibians, highlighting their vital role in the local ecosystem.

Set in a wooded glade near the Play Trail, the gallery will remain on view until July.

The project is the work of wildlife photographer and Ringwood and Poulner Toad Patrol volunteer Louis Pulford.

Volunteers from the Toad Patrol and Moors Valley rangers joined mayor Cllr Rae Frederick, Cllr Tracy Monkcom and other conservation organisations for the launch, which was also broadcast on Forest FM.

Opening the gallery, Cllr Frederick said: “Caring for our local environment is one of the most important things we can do as a community. I would especially like to recognise and thank our incredible volunteer toad patrollers.

“Toads may be small, but they play a big role in our ecosystem, and their annual journeys are a remarkable reminder of how closely connected we are to nature. And a special thank you to Louis Pulford for developing and bringing this fantastic display Amphibians are Friends together.”

Cllr Rae Frederick cuts the ribbon.

She officially cut the ribbon with the help of two giant toad models, marking the start of the six-month exhibition.

The gallery not only celebrates local wildlife but also shines a light on the Toad Patrol’s work saving migrating toads from busy roads north of Ringwood.

Moors Valley, a joint venture between Dorset Council and Forestry England, continues to provide a unique setting for wildlife, education and family-friendly experiences.
