Man jailed after stealing bank cards from vulnerable man

A MAN from Poole who tried to gain access to multiple homes and who stole bank cards from a vulnerable man has been jailed.

46-year-old Andrew James Millanaise spent the early hours of August 19 walking up driveways in Cranbrook Road and Springfield Crescent in an attempt to gain entry to the properties, but soon left when he spotted CCTV cameras.

A week later on August 16 at around 3.25am, Millanaise approached a property in Churchill Road, put his sleeve over his hand and attempted to open the door.

Later that night, he gained gained entry to a vulnerable man’s property in Edward Road and stole bank cards.

Police were made aware of the burglary after a member of the public found the victim’s coat discarded nearby, which contained paperwork belonging to the victim.

An investigation was carried out by the neighbourhood crime team, which led to the arrest and charge of Millanaise.

Millanaise pleaded guilty at Poole Magistrates’ Court on September 10 to four counts of attempted burglary with intent to steal and one count of burglary.

The defendant was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court yesterday (October 9) to four years in prison.

PC Ryan Greenwell, of the Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: “Burglary can have a significant impact on a victim, making them feel unsafe in their own home.

“Thankfully, Millanaise was spooked on a number of occasions by home security that the victim’s had installed at their properties.

“We are committed to identifying burglars and ensuring they are held to account for their actions, which can have a lasting impact on those affected.”
