Man in his 90s seriously injured after mobility crash with BMW

A MAN in his 90s was seriously injured after the mobility scooter he was using was hit by a BMW in Blandford.

The incident happened at just after 1pm on Tuesday afternoon (May 22) in The Tabernacle and involved a scooter and a grey BMW 320 saloon car.

The pedestrian – a man aged in 90s – using the scooter was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries, which are believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

Police Sergeant Gareth Thomas, of the traffic unit, said: “A road closure remained in place while officers investigated the collision.

“We would like to thank members of the public for their patience.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or the manner of driving of the BMW 320 saloon in the moments leading up to the collision, to please come forward.

“Also, I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage from The Tabernacle area of town near to Blandford Post Office at around 1pm on Tuesday, May 22.”
