Man in his 70s passes away after being hit by bus

A MAN injured in a Christchurch crash last week has sadly died.

The man, in his 70s, was seriously injured after being hit by a bus in Somerford Road at around 8.43am on Wednesday, December 3.

He was taken to hospital with what police described as “very serious injuries” and sadly passed away on Saturday morning (December 6).

“The man’s family are aware and are being supported by specially-trained officers,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.

A 36-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and subsequently released under investigation as officers continue to investigate the collision.

Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, added: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the man who sadly died at this extremely difficult time.

“We are continuing to carry out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision, and I would urge any witnesses who have not spoken to police – as well as anyone with relevant dashcam footage – to please make contact with us.”
