Man due in court after teen hit by car in Pamphill

A MAN is set to appear in court over claims he failed to stop after an incident that saw a teenager hit by a car and knocked into undergrowth.

The incident happened in Abbott Street, Pamphill, at around 1.15am on Monday, July 3.

“The victim was reportedly knocked into the undergrowth at the side of the road and required hospital treatment for a laceration to his head and possible dislocated shoulder,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.

“It was reported that the car involved stopped at the scene initially, but the driver then allegedly left the scene without giving his details.

“Following a public appeal, a man aged in his 20s from Sturminster Marshall came forward in connection with the incident.”

He has been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 8, the spokesperson added, for offences of failing to stop after a road accident, failing to report a road accident and driving without due care and attention.
