WIMBORNE is set to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III in style.
Details of an event to mark the crowning of the new king and queen consort have been released, running from 11am to 7pm on Sunday, May 7, in the town centre.
Organised by the Wimborne Business Improvement District (BID), a Big Lunch is set to take place, alongside hundreds of others around the country, with live music also on offer from a stage in The Square.
Visitors can enjoy a picnic on tables in the High Street, with the 1950s-inspired Aphrodite Singers and rock and roll singer Andy Kennett among those set to take to the stage.

Elsewhere, a musical bingo gameshow will be taking place in the afternoon, where Wimborne businesses and residents will be invited to take part as teams, just like on the TV.
Children’s entertainment will be brought to the green in front of Wimborne Minster by Little Gizmos Entertainment, with face painting, a fair and craft stalls also on offer.
A souvenir brochure is being produced, sponsored by Pulford Publicity, that will be available in businesses and distributed to local residents prior to the event, as well as on the day.
Wimborne BID manager, Tammy Sleet, said: “It is a joy to be able to put on a community event like The Big Lunch in order to help celebrate our new King’s Coronation.
“We hope many visitors will come into town on Sunday and the weekend to browse the shops, buy their lunch and enjoy the celebration.
“We are pleased to be working with Stir Events in order to deliver this special celebration event.”
