Dorset woman completes epic 630-mile charity trek

AFTER 630 miles, climbing 115,000ft, a Dorset woman has completed an epic trek in aid of a disability charity.

Felicity Hooper took on the challenge of running the whole of the South West Coast Path to raise money for Diverse Abilities – Dorset’s Disability Charity.

Starting in Minehead, west Somerset, and ending at South Haven Point, Studland, she was greeted by friends and family as she completed the epic trek.

Felicity was also raising money for The Bike Project, a charity which collects second-hand bikes and donates them to refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK.

Her efforts raised a total of £2,263, plus a further £549 donated by her employer, Investec Wealth & Investment.

“I wanted to raise money for Diverse Abilities as my brother has mild learning difficulties and has used their services in the past,” she said.

“I know how important it is to have the right support and the right access to education for individuals and their families.

“I love the fact that the charity’s ethos is to enable the people they support to achieve their full potential.”

Diverse Abilities is encouraging individuals and groups to ‘Do Something Amazing’ and create their own event or challenge to provide exceptional lives for the people supported by the charity.

Anyone looking to fundraise can create their own amazing activity, or find inspiration and sign up, at diverseabilities.org.uk/dsa, or emailing fundraising@diverseabilities.org.uk for more information.
