CCTV appeal after New Milton frauds – including cash stolen from woman in her 90s

CCTV images of a person police would like to trace in connection with fraud-related incidents in New Milton – including the theft of £500 from a woman in her 90s.

Hampshire Police have released the images after incidents in Station Road, in March and February.

“The first incident involved the theft of £500 from a woman aged in her 90s,” a spokesperson said.

“The victim was withdrawing money from a cash machine when an unknown man reportedly approached and distracted her before taking money from her account.”

They said the incident happened some time between 10.30am and 11.05am on Monday, February 12, and has the incident number 44240062942.

The second incident, which involved similar circumstances and the theft of £500 from a man aged in his 70s, is reported to have occurred at approximately 10.30am on Monday, March 4. The incident number in this case is 44240095137.

The man police want to trace is described as; around 25 years old; around 5ft 8ins tall; wearing a hat; spoke with an Eastern European accent and has tanned skin.

“We believe the man in these images can help us with our investigation and would urge him, or anyone who knows his identity, to get in touch with us,” the spokesperson added.

“Also, if you have information about this incident, saw anything suspicious in the area at the time, or have any CCTV, mobile phone, dash cam or doorbell camera footage which could aid our investigation, please contact us.”

Anyone with information should call 101, or give information online via the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary website, quoting either of the incident numbers.
