Care home Christmas fayre unites Poole community

THE COMMUNITY of Poole turned out in force to join in the fun at a care home Christmas fayre featuring real reindeer and party games.

Elizabeth House, run by not-for-profit Care South, welcomed mayor Cllr Mark Howell and the Sheriff of Poole Karen Rampton to the special event.

Children from Muddy Boots Nursery in Parkstone, who make weekly visits to the home to take part in activities, were thrilled to see Father Christmas and two of his reindeer in the garden.

Residents, staff and children dance to live music at Elizabeth House’s Christmas fayre.

Elizabeth House resident Mayra said she was ‘mesmerised’ as she had never seen real reindeer before.

Live music was provided in the dining room by Lisa Locarno, performing a range of Christmas songs and music from the 1960s, and there were a variety of stalls on offer.

Home manager Donna Moss said: “We were thrilled to welcome the mayor of Poole to join our wonderful afternoon filled with laughter, joy and festive spirit.

“Seeing our residents, the children from Muddy Boots Nursery and the community come together to enjoy all the fun activities made the day feel extra special.

“At Care South, we are always keen to enable our residents to feel part of their local community, and this was a fantastic opportunity to do that while celebrating the festive season in style.”

Elizabeth House, based on Dolbery Road South, has hosted a range of events to mark the festive season including a community Christmas lights switch-on.

The home also took part in Elf Day which saw staff dress up and put on fun themed activities to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s Society.

Elizabeth House hosts a weekly Welcome Wednesday session from 2pm to 4pm which is open to the public.

Visitors can enjoy a warm and friendly atmosphere over hot drinks, cakes and friendly conversation.
