Burglar jailed after stealing charity cash from Wimborne flat

A BURGLAR has been jailed for stealing money during a raid in Wimborne.

Dean Anthony Pennett, of Bemister Road, Bournemouth, was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.

He was sentenced during a hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday, September 29.

The 54-year-old was charged after a burglary at around 11.20am on March 7, when he broke into a flat in Wimborne High Street.

When the victim entered his property later that day, he discovered a quantity of cash was missing from a bedside drawer.

CCTV footage of the incident was captured and Pennett was identified, arrested and charged with burglary.

PC Jacob Cartwright, of East Dorset police, said: “The money that was stolen during this incident had been raised for charity.

“A burglary is extremely distressing for a victim, and we are determined to identify offenders and hold them responsible for their actions.”
