Blandford charity shop re-opening next week after refurb

A BLANDFORD charity shop will re-open next week after a full refurbishment.

The Friends of Blandford Community Hospital charity shop will welcome shoppers to its new-look premises in Barnack Walk from 10am on Monday, March 3.

It closed for the refurbishment at the end of January after a week-long ‘pound a bag’ sale in preparation for the refit.

The group also has a shop in Station Road, Sturminster Newton, which is set to get its own makeover, with the outlets providing a key source of funding for services provided by the Friends, including patient transport, hospital improvements and health work in the community.

It is also a major contributor to the recycling and reuse of items donated by members of the public.

Charity shops manager, Becca Norris, said: “We are proud to announce the modernising and updating, ensuring the longevity of the shops we all love.

“It has given us the opportunity to rebrand and restyle, and our message going forward is ‘Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle’.

“We have items to recycle ourselves, and need another source to clear them other than sending them to a recycling company, which means they are not reused locally and seems so wasteful,

“If any of our customers can suggest any innovative projects in the community which we can support using our excess – schools, artists, community groups – we would love to collaborate with them.”
