A MAJOR road is set to be closed ‘for some time’ after a crash this afternoon.

Emergency services crews are at the A337 Christchurch Road at New Milton after an incident at around 2.30pm.

A Dorset Council spokesperson said the road was ‘both ways closed, delays due to accident, one vehicle involved between Ringwood Road and Chewton Glen Hotel turn off’.

The crash was affecting traffic ‘between Highcliffe and New Milton’, they added.

A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We are currently assisting (Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service) at a road traffic collision on the A337 Christchurch Road, New Milton.

“The road is likely to be closed for some time so please find a alternative route if you need to head that way.”
