by Lorraine Gibson.
After a tough couple of years, our region’s A-level pupils finally got their results and, despite gloomy predictions, the overall result is one of success

QE pupils’ tremendous results
Katie Boyes, headteacher of Queen Elizabeth’s School said: “We are absolutely delighted with the results.
“The examinations that they completed are the first external examinations that they have sat. The results that they have achieved are tremendous and we are incredibly proud of them and congratulate them all.
“There are too many students to name individually.”
Ms Boyes added: “The majority of students have accepted a place at their first choice university. The resilience shown under the circumstances of their education is remarkable.
“They are an exceptional, inspiring, and talented group and we wish them all the best for their future endeavours.”

St. Peter’s students’ resilience and courage see many A* and A grades
Mr Doyle, headteacher at St. Peter’s in Bournemouth, said: “Congratulations to our Year 13s who have performed exceptionally well, despite the challenges of a very difficult and disrupted couple of years.
“We’ve been impressed and inspired by their resilience and courage and this determination has been rewarded with excellent academic results.
“So many students have achieved A* and A grades across all of their subjects that there are simply too many to name.
“As well as great results, we strive to enable our students to follow their aspirational pathway choices, whether university or another route.
“Over recent years we have seen a higher proportion of our students gaining places at Russell Group Universities and we are delighted that this upward trend has continued.”

Absolutely delighted with Canfordians
Canford School announced on its website: “We are absolutely delighted with the outstanding results achieved by Canfordians sitting A-Level and Pre-U examinations this summer, with 40.4% of all grades awarded A*, 73.7% A*/A and 92.4% A*/B.
“The last few years have been very difficult for teachers, pupils and their families and exam boards alike. “Comparisons with previous years need to be considered in context as the landscape and factors which affected the award of Centre Assessed Grades of 2020 and Teacher Assessed Grades of 2021 were very different.”

Twyneham – one in three grades an A*
A spokesman from the school in Christchurch said: “We’re absolutely delighted for our Year 13 students today. Despite the national picture, they achieved even more than last year with more than one in three grades A* or A.
“Most importantly well over 80% of students have secured their first choice university course.”

Ringwood School – 65.4% achieve top grades
A spokesman for the school said: “This cohort faced the challenge of never having sat external examinations before as their GCSE exams were abruptly cancelled in the summer of 2020.
“An eight-week school closure in the first year of their A-Levels meant many lessons were subject to disruption.
“Despite this, our students have shown the utmost determination and resilience and have today reaped the rewards.
“We are delighted that our students have equalled outstanding A-Level performances of the past.
“The percentage of top grades is 65.4%. A*/A/B- and A*-C grades is 88%; the average grade is B.”

Outstanding A Level Results at Ferndown Upper School
“After a challenging year, Ferndown Upper School students received their long-awaited exam results,” says headteacher Philip Jones.
“They have been superb throughout the Pandemic and have deservedly performed extremely well in their A levels.
“The headline figures continued to be in line with previous years with 100% pass rate and over half of the students grades being the highest possible, but due to the impact that Covid has had on all students, Dorset Secondary School headteachers have agreed to focus upon their students and their achievements rather than school headline results.”
