THE Vikings are coming – and every good Saxon is being urged to be ready to defend their territory!

But it is only in the name of fun during a special event at the Ancient Technology Centre in Cranborne.

This weekend, July 29 and 30, the centre will welcome a band of re-enactors for the Dark Ages-themed Open Weekend.

“Sit before the fire in the Viking long house, hear storytelling in the great earth house, see food prepared on a fire in the Celtic round house, watch nails made in the Roman forge and try your hand at the pole lathe,” a spokesperson said.

“Experience life in the Dark Ages then join the shield wall to do battle to save your home as the Vikings attack.”

Tea and home made cake will be available in the long house, while Blandford Evening WI will be on hand to provide Dark Ages burgers and hot dogs for visitors.
