The incident happened on Abbott Street, Pamphill, at around 1.15am on Monday morning (July 3), according to Dorset Police, with the driver failing to stop at the scene.
The 18-year-old was walking along the street when he was struck by a car, believed to be a dark grey BMW, as it drove past him.

“The car’s wing mirror came off as a result of the collision and damage was also caused to the windscreen.
“It was reported that the car stopped at the scene initially, but the driver then left without giving his details.”
Sergeant Matt Weldon, of East Dorset police, said: “We are conducting enquiries into this incident and I am keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our investigation.
“I would urge any motorists who were in the vicinity to please check any dashcam footage for anything of relevance.
“Finally, I would like to hear from anyone who has been made aware of a dark-coloured BMW or similar vehicle that has sustained damage to its wing mirror and windscreen in unexplained circumstances since the early hours of Monday, July 3.”
