A MAN arrested on suspicion of arson after 13 cars and two properties were damaged by fire in the Wimborne area has been released as investigations continue.
The incident unfolded in the early hours of Monday (May 15), between approximately 1am and 3am, with multiple car fires in the Broadstone, Wimborne and Merley areas reported to police.
On Wednesday, a Wimborne man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of arson. He has been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

Chief Inspector Andy Edwards, of Dorset Police, said: “It is vitally important we establish what happened and it remains a priority that we continue to carry out a thorough investigation and therefore, a dedicated team is continuing with detailed enquiries.
“I would like to reiterate our appeal for anyone who may have any piece of information or footage to help our enquiries to please come forward – we want to hear from you.
“The impact on our communities is not underestimated and I would like to remind residents that officers from our neighbourhood policing teams will continue to carry out enhanced patrols in the area and can be approached with any information or concerns.”
