HEAVY rain is set to batter the south west overnight and into Saturday – with weather warnings in place for much of Dorset and Somerset.
The Met Office has issued a warning, which will be in place from 9pm this evening (January 13) until noon on Saturday (January 14).
A forecaster said the rain would bring ‘the chance of some flooding and disruption’.
The yellow weather warning means:
* Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
* Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
* Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
* Some interruption to power supplies and other services likely
The forecaster said things would turn ‘very windy and wet’ overnight.
“Mostly dry this evening with somewhat lighter winds for a time,” they said.
“However, turning very windy and wet overnight with heavy rain and severe coastal gales by the morning.”
Saturday would be cloudy, wet and very windy during the morning, they added, with showers in the afternoon.
Temperatures would reach around 13C, the Met Office added.
