Body found in search for River Cottage’s Nick Fisher

THE body of a person – believed to be missing River Cottage star Nick Fisher – has been found.

The 63-year-old was last seen in Hooke during the afternoon of Tuesday, November 15.

His disappearance prompted an emotional appeal by River Cottage colleague Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.

However, following extensive enquiries and searches by Dorset Police, assisted by Dorset Search and Rescue (DorSAR), the body of a man was sadly located in Dorchester on Thursday morning (November 17).

“While formal identification has not yet taken place, the body is believed to be that of Nick Fisher and his family has been informed,” a police spokesperson said.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and HM Coroner has been notified.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Nick at this extremely difficult time. Nick’s family would like to thank everyone who helped with the search, including the media.

“They will not be commenting further at this stage and would respectfully ask for the privacy to grieve.

“We would like to thank everyone who assisted with the searches, as well as the public for their help in providing information.”
