A WOMAN was raped in Christchurch in the early hours of this morning (October 21).
Detectives are investigating the incident, in an underpass in Saxon Square, and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Dorset Police received a report at 8.32am on Friday that a woman had been raped by a man, who she had met earlier, in the early hours of that morning in the underpass in Saxon Square in Christchurch.
Detectives have launched a full investigation into this incident and a cordon has been put in place at the location.
The victim is being supported by specially-trained officers.
Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen, of Dorset Police, said: “I am appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone with information about the person responsible to please come forward.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have relevant home CCTV or dashcam footage.”
There will be an increased police presence in the vicinity and officers can be approached by members of the public with any information or concerns.
