Celebrations have been in full swing at Kings Park Care Home in Ferndown as one of its residents reaches his centenary in style.
Stanley Chapman was joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as he received a birthday card from the Queen in recognition of his landmark birthday. A Champagne reception was held at the home and guests enjoyed a special birthday cake made by the home’s chef Wyn Williams.
When asked what his secret was, Stan replied: “Moderation in all things!”
The following day, Stan enjoyed a large family party of more than 40 guests, many of whom had travelled from different countries.
His great-granddaughter made a three-tier cake for the celebrations and Stan was presented with a filled photo album of his one hundred years, together with a book containing the front pages of The Telegraph for each year of his life.
Lucy Lester, home services adviser at Kings Park, added: “We’re delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable man as he reaches this amazing milestone. “Stan is such a popular resident who always has an interesting tale to tell, and we look forward to hearing many more as he breaks into his next century.”
