Witchampton First School pupils were invited into the fabulous gardens of Abbey House, Witchampton.
The owners, Mr & Mrs Hodges, invited Year 1 and 2 children to the Grade-II* listed property which was originally built in the early 16th century and is thought to be the first brick-built house in Dorset.
The children were totally
inspired and were particularly excited to see the remains of mediaeval buildings, that up until recently had been buried under an overgrowth of ivy.
The gardens are also home to some amazing sculptures, many of which were designed and created by the owner herself.
The visit enabled the children to observe and sketch the many sculptures within the gardens before coming back to school to make their own clay sculptures.
