As the result of a successful collaboration between Wimborne’s Rotary and Allendale Centre, more than £5,000 has been sent to Shelterbox to help with work they are undertaking to provide support to Ukrainian refugees.
Shelterbox is a Rotary International Project Partner working in many countries around the world, including Poland, and aims to ensure no family is left without shelter from the elements.
In conjunction with their rapidly growing Friday market, the Allendale Centre provided space for the display by Rotary of a typical Shelterbox accommodation tent and invited Wimborne Rotarians to take a collection of donations from the visiting public.
The Allendale also hosted special events including one for children and an evening concert, the proceeds of which were also donated to the total fundraising effort.
In total £2,174 was raised by the Allendale, with Wimborne Rotary contributing a further total of £3,160 from member and public donations and club funds.
Rotarian Brian Dryden, who co-ordinated the joint initiative said, “I am delighted that our joint initiative with the Allendale produced such good results for our fundraising for Ukraine.”
