A CARE home has teamed up with restaurant chain Pizza Express to launch a new coffee morning for veterans and their loved ones.
Parley Place, in West Parley, will host a Veterans’ Coffee Morning at Pizza Express in Christchurch High Street on the last Thursday of each month, running from 10am to 11.30am.
Organisers said the mornings would be “a chance for anyone who has served or has a loved one who has served to get together for a cuppa and a slice of cake”.
“It’s a relaxing morning of chatting, exchanging stories and supporting each other,” they added.
At a recent event, head chef at Parley Place, Kris, whipped up a selection of cakes for Michelle Venn, home services advisor, to take for the guests to enjoy while Anna, general manager of Pizza Express, served tea and coffee for everyone.
Both Michelle and Anna were on hand to chat with attendees and talk more about support or ideas for future events.
Gina Smith, general manager at Parley Place, said: “It’s important for us as a home to support our local community and the veterans who served for King and Country deserve our time and respect, we are honoured to be hosting this event and hope it continues to grow and support the community locally.”
Anna, from Pizza Express, added: “Community is so important and being in the centre of Christchurch we are more than happy to host and be involved with supporting our local veterans.”
