GARDENERS working hard through the winter will be able to showcase their spring wares at an event in March.
The Verwood and District Horticultural Society (VDHS) has announced its annual Spring Show will take place on Saturday, March 21, offering cultivators the chance to win trophies and share a £300 prize fund.
“The event celebrates the arrival of spring with a Verwood Memorial Hall full of colourful blooms, and participants are encouraged to enter, whether they are seasoned gardeners or beginners,” a spokesperson said.
“There is no entry fee, and organisers will be available to help with categorising submissions.
“Daffodil entries have been split into two categories this year, giving first-time entrants a better chance of winning.”
As well as flowers, the show also welcomes handicrafts, baking, and photography, with a variety of children’s competitions also running for those aged between three and 11, including categories for decorated stones, fruit and vegetable characters, Lego models, and flapjacks.
A colouring competition will also allow young artists to showcase their creativity, with sheets available at Verwood Library or downloadable from the VDHS website.
The popular Scarecrow Competition is back once again, with the theme, A Character from History.
Thanks to a generous £100 prize fund from Verwood Town Council, winners will be judged by visitors to the event.
