A MAN who attempted to steal more than £430-worth of skincare products, vitamins and toothpaste from a New Milton shop has appeared in court.
The 21-year-old, of Parkgate Road, Coventry, was handed a six-month conditional discharge and a £26 victim surcharge, which must be paid in full by December 29.
The court was told Costache entered the store and attempted to steal £430.53 worth of skincare products, vitamins and toothpaste.
When officers arrived on the scene, the items were found hidden in the lining of his jacket.
The conviction comes during a series of prosecutions for shoplifting in the area.

On Thursday, David Graham Cullen, who stole £140-worth of Lego from Tesco in New Milton, was handed a £40 fine and community service.
New Forest business crime lead at Hampshire Police, Inspector Linda Davies, said officers were committed to tackling shoplifting.
“We know the significant impact this crime has on businesses and the wider community,” she added.
“Our response will create a hostile environment for those seeking to offend and we are committed to relentlessly pursuing those who continue to do so.”
