200 go running for refugees

More than 200 walkers and runners joined organisers Lesley and Richard Davies for a tour of the Spetisbury countryside on Sunday, April 24, in aid of the Ukraine crisis.
Poignantly, it was the day celebrated as Easter in Ukraine and the bright yellow of the oilseed rape fields reflected the yellow part of the Ukrainian flag.
The weather did not disappoint and the clear blue sky reflected the blue of the Ukrainian flag, the glorious sunshine seemed to bring the local wildlife alive including, unusually, a Zebra Finch foraging on the Trailway. Escapee or migrant, this bird usually inhabits warmer climes no closer than Portugal.
Home-made cakes and a raffle at the event base at The Shack at Clapcotts Farm in the village rounded up the total collected to over £3,500 for the relief of refugees in Ukraine.
