Wimborne’s FishCove Aquatics celebrates 10 years with a splashy relaunch and new pet venture

INDEPENDENT Wimborne business, FishCove Aquatics, is marking a milestone this month as the team are celebrating 10 years of fishkeeping excellence, with seven and a half of those years firmly anchored in the heart of Wimborne.

The multi-award-winning, family-run business, known for its expert fish care, bespoke aquarium installations and friendly advice, is undergoing an exciting refurbishment this week.

Doors will reopen with a flourish on the evening of Saturday (November 8) for an exclusive VIP event, followed by a grand public relaunch on Sunday (November 9), featuring special offers and promotions to thank loyal customers and welcome new ones.

But that’s not all. The relaunch introduces Pet Cove, a brand-new addition offering a curated range of 100% natural, UK-made pet products for dogs and cats – because why should fish have all the fun?

Duncan has been immersed in the fishcare industry for over 20 years, bringing a deep well of expertise to FishCove Aquatics.

A passionate fishkeeper since childhood – his first goldfish arrived at age eight – he went on to become a respected welcome host and aquarist at Bournemouth Oceanarium where he shared his enthusiasm with thousands of visitors.

His aquatic journey continued in Malta, where he worked in a specialist aquatic store and installed aquariums across the island before returning to England to launch his own business.

Duncan’s passion and expertise have shaped FishCove Aquatics into a trusted name on the south coast. His daughter Ellana, 21, brings youthful energy and fresh ideas to the business, while wife Amy keeps the books balanced and the business buoyant.

“We’re passionate about fishkeeping and dedicated to service,” Duncan said. “The footfall in Wimborne is fantastic, and we’ve built a reputation for honest advice and deep knowledge of a hobby we truly love.”

FishCove Aquatic began in a garden centre in Merley, but it quickly outgrew its first home. A move to King’s Court, just off Wimborne High Street, proved the perfect fit.

Since then, the shop has become a hub for seasoned aquarists and curious newcomers alike. Duncan is especially thrilled to see younger generations diving into fishkeeping and discovering its joys.

Whether you’re a long-time customer or a curious passerby, FishCove Aquatic’s relaunch weekend promises plenty to explore—from shimmering aquariums to tail-wagging treats.
