Prison sentence for disqualified Poole driver who was caught speeding twice

A MAN from Poole who had been disqualified from driving was caught speeding by police – in two separate occasions.

Officers from Dorset Police stopped a vehicle that was found to be speeding excessively at around 8pm on December 27.

It was established by the officers that the driver had already received a suspended sentence for driving whilst disqualified.

Two months later, at around 9.20am on February 25, a vehicle entering Dorchester from the direction of the A35 and Puddletown was hit by an automatic number plate camera and stopped by officers in Westwey Road in Weymouth.

Police say the aforementioned man identified himself as the driver and was arrested and remanded in custody.

The 41-year-old man was sentenced at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, March 1 to a total of 42 weeks in prison for multiple driving offences.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “The Dorset Police Roads Policing Team will continue to do all we can to keep members of our community safe by bringing offenders before the courts to be held accountable for their actions on our roads.

“If you have reason to believe that someone is driving a vehicle when they shouldn’t be, call 999 with the vehicle details and the direction of travel.”
