“PLEASE get in touch with me or one of your friends to let us know you are okay.”

The words come from the mother of missing Wimborne man, Neil Allen, as the search goes on to find him.

The 41-year-old was reported missing after having last been seen on the evening of Tuesday, February 13.

Police believe he visited an address in Barnes Crescent before going to the Spar store in Gordon Road at around 8.50pm, which was captured on CCTV.

Neil was then seen on Leigh Road, near Brook Road, some time between 9.30pm and 10pm.

He is described as 5ft 10 inches tall, with long brown hair and a full beard.

Now, Neil’s mother has issued an appeal urging him to make contact.

She said: “Neil, please get in touch with me or one of your friends to let us know you are okay.

“So many people care about you and are out searching for you. We all love you and want you back safe and well. Please come home. I love you, mum.”

Chief Inspector David Parr, of Dorset Police, said: “Neil’s mother is being supported and updated regularly by officers from our Missing Person Support Team. We have continued our extensive searches to find Neil and a lot of activity has taken place over the past weekend in Wimborne and the wider surroundings, including in rural and water areas.

“Since Neil’s disappearance, we have had tremendous support from volunteers – not just from Dorset but also the wider network of search teams across the region. We have also been supported by colleagues from the National Police Air Support unit, drone team and dog section.

“We are immensely grateful for all the help and assistance we have had from everyone. Many specialist search volunteers have willingly given up their time to search some very difficult areas and in some challenging weather conditions. The support we have received has enabled us to complete most of our location-based searches.

“Unfortunately, despite the extensive coordinated searches that have taken place, we still have not located Neil or been able to find any more information about where he may have gone.

“While the public may see a reduction in the visible search activity over the coming days, I want to reassure them that our efforts to locate Neil are ongoing and we will continue to explore any lines of enquiries that emerge as well as follow up any new reported sightings.

“The response from the local community has been exceptional and the efforts they have made to find Neil and work with us has not gone unnoticed. Search activity is continuing and I want to reiterate my message to the community – please do not place yourself in danger if you are looking for Neil, especially around rivers and flooded areas.”
